How it Works

We are still exploring the best ways to get these stories to kids that could most benefit from them. To start, we have been contacting homeless shelters that offer services to families, foster care programs and organizations that support foster care, and early education programs such as head start preschools.  If this sounds like a fit for your organization or service, please contact us.

About Us

These stories started a few years ago with a dad wanting more empowering princess stories and messages for his then 2 ½ year old princess obsessed daughter. When his daughter started adoring all things princess, at first he thought it was cute. But, as they watched the ‘classics’ and read some of the related books, he was disappointed by the messages in those stories. He didn’t want his daughter to think she needed a prince to rescue her or that her options were limited. So, he started to ad-lib the stories with things like, ‘And then Cinderella studies science!’ That led to The Smart Princess Series. Along with trying to make the stories fun twists on the fairy tales, he also did his best to include examples and messages about growth mindset, self-confidence, resilience, and empathy. As he received positive feedback from parents and kids on the stories and messages, and his daughter got older, he realized their mission was to try to use them to help kids that might be in challenging situation. That is how The Smart Princess Project began.
